Rami AlAli S/S 2012 - Pushing Traditional Boundaries

What makes a dress, or any designed object, interesting? Yes, it's a broad question and a set of different factors are at play here, but generally it depends on your taste and preference. We enjoy designs that aim to push traditional boundaries and allow us to reinterpret or question recognized conventions.
A great example of this design approach is Rami AlAli's S/S 2012 collection. The collection was influenced by traditional Islamic patterns, that we usually see printed on paper and fabrics or embossed on walls, but here it's reintroduced to us via flawless laser cutting and intensive gorgeous layering of fabrics and beads.
